This hotel deserves 10 stars! Everything about it is fantastic - but the real standout is the excellent staff. They are friendly, polite and exceedingly helpful. The hotel has all the facilities you could want - indoor and outdoor pools, spa, gym, adventure course for the young and the young at heart, a trampoline near the outdoor pool, three restaurants... Attending a family wedding, it was suggested that we all stay in the same complex. When booking, I was offered a Junior suite to accommodate my adult daughter as well as my husband and myself. I was surprised to open the door on a well refurbed lovely two room room, even heated floors toilet and bathroom!!! All the little extras... More

Thank you for your kind feedback. A wedding in the family is indeed a special occasion and I am thrilled to hear we played a positive part in the day. Our Junior Suites are very practical (and popular) rooms, totally refurbished, as you mentioned. We look forward to welcoming you again in future. More

I live in UH, not too far away from Masterton, but I was determined to take my kids on an overnight trip! I was there in the 80's as a teen, so expected some change!!! Luckily it was better!!! My kids had a blast on that rainy day, the food was AMAZING (compliments to the Chef)...the hosts were wonderful...Janinine and... More

I have stayed here a number of times.... And just today booked again for end of Feb :) I find Solway Park excellent in many areas... Being born and breed in Masterton many years ago, it is great to come back to the familiarities of the Wairarapa with family and friends close by. (Not to mention many other shops, restaurants,... Stayed one night during a weekend; if you don't have dependants you may end up like we did, being woken by the children next door having a really loud screaming and yahooing play at about 7.00am on the sunday. Plus as a Hotel/function centre the music went on until midnight and 'loud' people passed by our room on the way... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and providing your feedback. We were sorry to hear you had a disrupted stay due to our other guests in-house. We are a hotel with a large one-storey footprint and wherever possible I can assure you that it is our policy to allocate rooms strategically when we have functions in-house... More

I spent one night here as part of a conference and found the staff very helpful. The rooms are reasonable and the bathroom had recently been refurbished and was modern. The TV in the room was tiny and the queen bed a push together pair of singles. There was no real view to speak of as the room opened out... More

Thank you for your review Tantooine_tour_guide. We appreciate your kind words regarding our staff, restaurant and refurbishments. We are regular hosts of conference groups and are more often than not given feedback from groups that our abundance of free and accessible parking is a real positive, so it was interesting to hear feedback from another angle. While it sounds like... More

This is a completely adequate resort with nice friendly (as they are almost everywhere in NZ) front desk and restaurant staff. It is a single story resort spread out over several wings clearlybuilt some time ago. Convenient parking at the front of many of the rooms. We were there mid week and wandered over to the restaurant where there were... More

Many thanks Aussie_Andrew for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. As you mentioned, yes, while we were built in the seventies, the hotel is now Four Star Plus rated by NZ's official Qualmark rating system, having undergone a series of refurbishments in recent years. We do pride ourselves on our central location to Wairarapa's attractions and vineyards,... More

Thank you for those kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We stayed only one night as part of our NZ coach tour. As there were 3 of us (me+wife+daughter), we were allocated a two bedroom suite which was very spacious and well-furnished. Road noise was non-existent as this suite faced out from the rear of the hotel complex onto park-lands. I can't comment on food as I was unwell due... More

Thanks CJLNZ, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, we are a great spot for families and once our latest refurbishments open in December, familes will enjoy the resort even more. It sounds like you stayed in one of our Standard Rooms, which do indeed have a 'Queen/Queen' configuration. Although these are popular with familes, we also have two bedroom... More
