I can't believe I am the first to review Casa de los Monos in Buceria (not to be confused with the other Casa de los Monos south of Puerto Vallarta). Perhaps it's because the guests want to keep it a secret!

My husband was corrected when he called it was a hotel -- it's a home and is treated that way. Everyone from the handyman to the guests (who had been coming there for over 10 years and filled us in on all the details) were extremely welcoming and the location is perfect -- an easy neighborhood or beach walk to Bucerias, 20 minutes by bus to PV, 20 minutes by bus to Sayulita.

If you are looking for a 4-star all inclusive, this is not for you. It is quirky. There are kitchens in each room but the appliances are pretty old, but work (and there is a grill outside). Like some European hotels, the bathrooms don't have shower stalls, just a shower head out of the wall. But for these small sacrifices you get a comfy bed, we had air conditioning, insanely beautiful... more
