We stayed at Torchattan one night in October on our way back to Edinburgh from Shetland and Orkney. My friend has stayed here several times and recommended Torchattan as a comfortable and friendly place. I found his description to be spot on. Having been canoeing with our sons all day, we arrived exhausted at Torchattan House. Nice friendly welcome, but certainly not a place I'd recommend. We were told the boys would be staying downstairs – now they're both 13, so they're big enough laddies, but we were not prepared for what came next. We were taken through the house, outside, down... Mary and Eddy Anderson purchased Torchattan House in July 2009 and have completely renovated the establishment. We have contacted the reviewer who posted on September 2008 and asked that his review be removed as it is not a true reflection of the business as it stands today but relates to the standards of the previous owner.
