We have just returned from spenind the night at Blackwood Hall to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary in the double room with spa bath. From the minute you arrive at Blackwood Hall you are made to feel extremely welcome with a personal greeting from Valerie at the door. The hall itself is magnificent, set in beautiful surroundings and decorated to... More

We stayed here the night of our wedding for one night and loved it. The hall itself is beautifully decorated and the room was luxurious. We had intended on going out that evening but decided to stay in, in comfort and luxury. We had a top notch breakfast the following morning before leaving. We found Valerie to be very welcoming... Really wound't waste your time, we visited for a friends birthday and stayed at blackwood hall, it was cold, right next to a business park (literally) and the way over priced, we could stay at Oulton Hall hall for less and have far more luxury.

We can fully appreciate how the reviewer must have felt at the wedding reception of their friends, the bride and groom. We have to say however that the bride and groom had only booked the venue from us and the catering and bar arrangements were contracted directly by them without our direct involvement. The clients decided the food menu, bar... More

2 babies (2 families) staying at the hotel but only 1 high chair. Caused issues when trying to have breakfast in the morning, ended up having to return back to the bedroom until the other couple had finished their breakfast with their baby. When we returned down stairs 30 minutes later we was not served a fresh breakfast and was... More

We have been open now for just over 6 months and in that time we had not had any infants stay so two one year olds booked in on the same night, did rather stretch our resources. We have only one high chair and had we planned breakfast times better the high chair would have been available for the second... More

As we all approach the Summer, the wildlife is delightful and the geese on the lake are doing their courtship dances, so it adds to the peaceful surroundings. More

I stayed at the hall and had a lovely time, the house is beautifull, the hostess cannot do enough to help and was so friendly i could quite fancy her!! The grounds the hall stand in are stunning but the nettles need tending to with some weedkiller

The upkeep of the Hall and its grounds is quite a task but some areas are set aside to go wild in order to preserve wildlife. The butterflies in Summer can be quite delightful. Valerie More

Stayed here for a romantic night away in March,,just as all the snow hit,,lovely room with 4 poster and large TV,, although without the spa bath I wouldn’t say it was that special,,We also had the place to ourselves,,and as someone else has mentioned found the owner unfriendly,,,very large breakfast in fact too much. Beautiful surroundings and perfect for peace... More

So pleased you enjoyed the Hall, surroundings and the hearty Yorkshire breakfast. I have to admit to being perhaps somewhat preoccupied when you stayed in March. This was due to the building work for our Wedding venue placing too many burdens on me at the time. I am relieved to say that now at the time of writing has all... More

I have never stayed in this property since it was redeveloped. I am a lucky person to have spent my childhood in that house, but back then it was two homes. Many stories especially the ones that go bump in the night. I just hoped they never destroyed the old room which had a ghostly past. Would love to stay... More

We stayed on a Saturday night having spent the day in York. The Hall is set in fantastic grounds and is very grand. Valerie greeted us and showed us to a fantastic room, with four poster, huge tv and the biggest bathroom I have ever seen - double shower, double bath (with head rests), double sinks... in fact double everything...
