I paid £19 for BB on Swallows website Sunday Night Special. The reception, bar, restaurant areas were not too bad, probably on par with many business hotels. The room was a good size and clean. However the room needed redecoration and soft furnishings were tatty. The mattress was lumpy as well. However considering I paid "Youth Hostel" priceing I was happy but... more

Dear Guest Firstly I would like to thank you for using Tripadviser. The rate of £19.00 is a great deal that we are offering in the current climate and i agree some of the areas are in need redecoration but the prices we offer do reflect that and customers can compare these on line with other hotel chains of differant...

whoever thought of the 2 teabags/2 coffees/ 4 milks/ for two people for entire length of stay i.e no replacements after first day must be deliberately trying to close the hotel down [i don't drink tea or coffee but can well imagine the anoyance to guests who do ]. i for one vowed never to stay in a swallow hotel... more

I have just come back from a leisure weekend with my daughter at this hotel. To read reviews that state this hotel is wonderful ,I wonder what people's standards are like. The only good thing about the hotel is the food. The carpets and furniture in all rooms are dirty, old and tatty. The bedroom had cobwebs, dust all over... more

I would like to thank you for your comments about the food at the hotel. Some of the areas do require updating but my team work hard...

I am very shocked at the bad reviews this hotel has received. We were there with a coach party and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food which is usually not very nice for parties was delicious with three choices of each course. There was plenty of choice at breakfast although they could have done with a mrore... more

Absolutely dreadful hotel. We were staying at the Swallow because we were attending a wedding close by. On arrival we were given a key to our room but when we got to the room it had not been cleaned from the previous occupants. We then waited in the bar and had a bar meal which was awful. Tasteless sandwiches and... more

It is with deep regret and disapointment that i feel the need to write regarding the comments you have made but rest assured we are doing everthing possible to rectify the points raised. We are currently implimenting new standards across the hotel including such areas as breakfast specification, room standards etc. There were obviously some training needs that have been...

first impression dark, dingy, very tired. receptionist not welcoming ,all to much of an effort. First room reeked of smoke second room was acceptable, we had two bath towels and one shabby hand towel. Second day tea and coffee were not replaced. Bar prices were ridiculous, furniture in bar very soiled in need of replacing. Could have done without the... more

We had our wedding at the swallow preston and I could not have asked for a better venu. We had a guest turn up to the wedding breakfast who was only invited to the evening party, yet the staff put on an extra seat and 3 course meal complete with drink package free of charge. The food was delicous and... more

Accommodation very basic and tired. Too afraid to use the kettle for fear I'd catch something from it. Bar prices overinflated for function. Woman at breakfast wasn't very accommodating... when I asked for a plate she said nothing and carried on, eventually bringing a plate. Food was lovely however and the function was well organised. Pay a few quid less... more

We found a 2 night Spring Deal for £69 each (including breakfast & evening meal ) on the internet & as the hotel looked really nice we decided to book a weekend break for our weddding anniversary. What a disappointment! On entering the hotel out first impression was not good & went rapidly downhill thereafter. The reception area looked very... more

The heat in parts of this hotel was so intense that it spoiled what would have been a nice break. The dining room in particular was so hot that it made it very uncofortable to eat in and stay in for any length of time. This was at each meal and even asking, pleading for someone to do something about... more

Dear Guest, Due to issues that arose after having a new boiler house installed we had no controls over the air handling units which work the restaurant, It was impossible at that stage to turn down the heating as it was not actually switched on. We opened the doors to try and get some air through but this was not...
