Well it was a novelty going to stay at a hotel which didn't have a review on tripadvisor, but any doubts about my choice were expelled on checking in.

This is a true gem of a hotel set in a very picturesque and seriuously overlooked part of Norway. The Fontenen is about 10 minutes walk away from the train station with the Cathderal opposite the entrance and the River Glomma just a few minutes walk away behind the hotel.

First of all the hotel is privately owned and the manager is exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable. If all hotel managers had the same enthusiasim and spirit to make people feel welcome then their would be no complaints on tripadvisor!

My room was spacious and clean with a modern decor and a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was downstairs next to the reception with a good choice of food and drink. Hotel reflects the local town and area with old photographs on the walls and has a good selection of tourist... more
