On the SH-1 road between Timaru and Christchurch in South Island there are many places to stay, but we wanted something different. This beautiful Victorian manor house lies just off the main road on parklike grounds with a fishing stream, ducks, and gorgeous gardens. Despite it's small size, they even do weddings in the gardens. The ensuite rooms couldn't be nicer and it was a great bargain which included choice of an excellent continental or cooked breakfast, Our friendly hosts are anxious to tell you about the area's attractions. We only stayed one night but I wish it could have been more. It was like a peaceful oasis in our hard-driven trip.
