We had booked over the net and were a bit concerned when we saw the location of the hotel, very close to a busy road but were pleasantly surprised as the room was quiet and we had no problem sleeping with the window open.
Poschiavo is an utterly charming little town with extensive pedestrian or semi- areas, there are a few museums, an indoor swimming pool, a fantastic stone-carving shop, a lovely main square - where a market takes place. Be sure to buy the locally-made pasta (the mill is at the entrance of Poschiavo as you come from the Bernina Pass), it has a distinctive, very 1960s, packaging (blue with a red or yellow ribbon, only three types : spaghetti, vermicelli and ternetta).
The Zanolari family owns two hotels there : the Albrici (one of Switzerland's historic hotels), on the main square, they serve delicious pizzas and there is a big terrace and the Croce Bianca.
