We took a leap of faith and landed safely in Valerie's lap. Let me explain. From 7,000 miles away, I was looking for a place to stay as a base for some hiking in the French Pyrenees. I am generally not a fan of B&Bs (too cloying), but the reviews of Valerie's intrigued me because they were so consistently good.... More

As others have said, we'd really like to keep Valerie's a secret but we owe it to her to spread the word! We had a really relaxing time staying in Bagneres de Bigorre as a base for skiing/boarding in the Pyrenees. The trip between Bagneres and La Mongie only takes about 30 mins, and after a day on the slopes... More

I have just had 5 days in Bagneres De Bigorre at Valerie's who is an absolute delight, she made everything so warm and welcoming. The food was all fresh and outstanding. The house fits perfectly in the location, is clean and comfortable. Valerie always went that extra mile to ensure we had everything we needed and to ensure we got... More

A third time visit to Valerie’s in BdB and because the value for money is so excellent. We have seen no increase in price for the 3 years we’ve been coming and the house is as charming and warm as ever. The food is still as excellent with freshly squeezed oranges for breakfast and the largest and most delicious boiled... More

I posted a review 2 years ago, and have happily returned a few times and at different times of the year, both for the ski and alpine walking scenes; my opinion is unchanged and reflects all the other recent reviews. The town of Bagneres is slowly being done-up and facilities generally improved and is a most attractive and jolly destination.... More

During our recent tour of the Pyrenees we stayed with Valerie in her typical french town house. We were greeted with cold beer and hot tea- most welcome after a long journey through the mountains. Our room was very comfortable and Valerie was an excellent host telling us about things to do in the area including the amazing spa at... More

Just returned back to the UK after a week stay at Val's. This is the second time we've stayed and it proved just as great as the first time: Big enough house to have space; small enough to be cosy. Fabulous food! We ate in every evening as Val's cooking, and the local foods were wonderful. Lovely, traditional town Very... More

Stayed at Valerie's in Jan 2010 for 5 days skiing in the resort of La Mongie which is 30 mins drive away up through the Pyrenees. The house is a typically French, character-full, warm French house with several storeys, and many rooms. We were 8 and there was plenty of room for us all. Val cooked great food for us... More

What a lovely time we had the days we stayed in Bagneres-De-Bigorre. Myself and five friends used the town as a base to see two stages of Le Tour de France and go walking in the Pyrenees. With any holiday the standard of the accommodation and the service is always important to your stay and we were not disappointed with... More

I owe it to Valerie to write an honest review, though a big part of me wants to keep her place a secret – I’ll want to be back and don’t want to find her complèt. But this is no ordinary b&b; they are ten a penny - Valerie is a kind, generous and enthusiastic host who unreservedly welcomes you... More
