We had to find a guesthouse for our last night in Penang. We wanted something cheap and central, that's what we got. It was on 25 ringgit for a twin room in the centre of Georgetown. The rooms were pretty clean, the walls were plastic with no windows. It was okay just for one night but the atmosphere was strange,... More

I stayed here for 2 nights before finding myself a new place around the corner, which was a fantastic decision. When I checked in there were 3 men on the desk who all seemed incredibly reluctant to talk to me. Every time I asked a question of through staff (simple things like a bar to watch football or good place... More

The location is great and the price is easy on the wallet. I stayed in the men only section which had around 7 sinlge rooms in a row. The walls were very thin and the guy in the next room was getting it on with a rather noisey girl at 4am which kept me awake for a while but hey,... More

When you get in, they try to convince you to stay. Once you do it, the staff becomes rude. We wanted to book a ticket for the ferry to go to Langkawi, and one guy with long hair treated us very bad. The rooms are claustrophobic, there are no windows, no natural light, but they're spacious. The shared bathrooms are... More

Banana, is the cheapest accommodation I found in Penang. Shared bathroom and toilet. Fan room with 2 beds, so this makes it very cheap if 2 people travel together. They have internet on site and can Accommodate travel in Malaysia or Thailand. They also facilitate Thai visa, which is why I was there. Ideally located, opposite the Reggae club (a bar... More

My friendster and i were there in the last days of february and we arrived in this city at night and we unfortunately got to this guest house. We imediatetly noticed the bad attitude of the two men that were there in the reception, acting like of they were doing us a favour. The room Was dirty and with no... More

It was my third stay at Banana Guesthouse (the 'Banana New' on the same side of the road as 7-11) and I'm sorry to say it will be my last. My first two visits last year were fine - the guy with the long hair was very helpful and friendly. It now appears to be run by a couple of... More

I stayed 2 nights apr1 and not too bad, I would try and get a little closer to the ferry since the streets are hard to walk on carrying luggage. I'm too cheap tp take a taxi:( Neat place to see, breakfast ok

Did not stay at the hostel. I did use their visa service (now located directly across the street from the hostel). For the visa processing they seemed very knowledgeable and got the Thai visa just as advertised. I also used their minivan service to get back to Thailand, which is the reason for my poor rating. After a year in... More

"I am very sure you are not blind and you know how to read!...Please don´t turn off the light". This is one the notices from the owner in the floors that´s makes you feel like home! I have no idea how travellers can say that you get what you pay because I have better acomodation in my home country if... More
