I found this place on the internet the day before I got there, It sounded like a good location so I took my chances and just turned up. The place is right on the beach (well there's a small gravel 'road'/path in between. A big house it has an elevated verandah that you can sit on and watch the waves... more

This backpackers is well named - it's right on the beach, and there are terrific views from the lounge area. Rooms are clean and comfy enough, and there's a nice big kitchen and lounge. It's a short walk to the Pancake Rocks and makes a good place to break up your journey down the west coast of the South Island.... more
