Ny husband and I spent rwo days at this hotel. I payed a little extra to get a room with views to the beach. They have us the top floor with wonderful views. It was relaxing, just what we needed with very relaxing beds, small fridge and direct access to the beach. The breakfast was also spectacular. I totally recommend this hotel if you are looking for relax, great views and close to the beatufiful town of Ribadesella.

The staff were warm and welcoming and could speak English which is unusual for this area. The room was lovely and clean and we had a view of the beach which was a surprise bonus. You can eat as much as you want for breakfast, all lovely fresh food and lots to choose from. The room was cleaned every day with fresh supplies for the shower etc if needed. They don't seem to have kettles in the rooms in Spain, so make sure that you bring your travel one if like me you are a tea drinker. I just went out and bought one cheaply enough. Fabulous beach outside the hotel for swimmers and surfers. Lots of fishing if you want it or kayaking on the river Sella. Also on the Camino de Santiago trail if you can't get into the hostel next door.

Really friendly family run hotel. The rear of the hotel faces the beautiful beach of Ribadasella with great walks around the bay. It’s a short walk across a bridge to the main town with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. Having stayed here several times before, I would highly recommend it and if I were in the area again I would always stay here.

In my earlier Trip Advisor posting of 3rd June 2017 in respect of Hotel Ribadesella Playa, I awarded the hotel (but more importantly those who manage and work there) a full five well deserved stars. In that posting I mentioned that my wife and I intended to make a return visit to the Asturias region in Autumn 2017 with our five friends so that they too get a little taste of what we now regard as 'our Spain'. Well, that very successful visit took place last month. Being so different to the Spain that so many visit, our friends too were astonished by the ruggedness and natural beauty of the region. Based on our experience of Hotel Ribadesella Playa, the entire group stayed there for our all too short four day stay. The hotel lived up to all expectations and so not to be repetitive here, rest assured that it certainly continues to do that.

This hotel is spotless. The rooms are nice the breakfast has lots of choice and well presented in a lovely room at ground floor level. Nespresso pods ( not the small capsules) means a nice coffee is guaranteed. The bed was comfortable and aircon really good. Could not fault the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly

We stayed here for 5 nights in July 2017 and did enjoy it. Our enjoyment was tempered more by the weather than the hotel, as the location couldn't be better if you like to be by the sea. In fact the roar from the waves is considerable, and continuous despite no wind - it must be something to do with the beach topography but the surfers count it as a blessing! - and it is quite handy to drown out the sounds of people walking around in the rooms next to you and above you. The hard flooring exacerbates sound transmission, but thankfully people were considerate types during our stay and at least were being quiet during the night. If you stay here, try not to wear shoes as you walk around the floor, or use shoes that clatter! The windows do a pretty good job of keeping out the sound of the waves as well, but you can't really sleep with the window open I don't think. I'd have felt insecure anyway as the promenade is just a few feet away and you'd also hear anyone walking past, or sitting on one of the nearby benches late at night or in the morning. A lot of people walk their dogs, jog, have an early morning walk along there, whatever the weather. I kind of envy them their lifestyle. The beds in our room, and hopefully the whole hotel, had memory foam mattresses. This is a first for me in a hotel, and a most welcome one. I slept very well on it, helped by borrowing a memory foam pillow from my daughter's twin room, because we didn't have one in our room. These were both a godsend to me as I can get a very stiff neck and back. The sea view rooms aren't over-large as they have squeezed in 4 rooms across the back, presumably on each of the two main accommodation floors, so that more people can have a sea view. The ones on the 2nd floor have even bigger windows but I wonder if that lets in more sound of the sea?! Interesting to note that my daughter's twin, near the lift, had a side view of the promenade (and a good view of the b&b's garden next door) and this was a larger room, with larger bed area (because it is two singles as opposed to our admittedly good-size 150cm double), a larger bathroom, and cost less than our sea view double per night, so if space means more to you than view you might want to consider that room sizes do vary quite a bit here. The tv had more channels than we'd seen before, probably because a lot of people who visit this area come from other parts of Spain. It was a good quality screen too. One morning we found ourselves watching a dubbed version of Bullitt (Steve McQueen) for a bit, and were tempted to continue except we don't understand Spanish. But it just looked so stylish especially on the good screen. The wifi was excellent and my daughter stayed up very late each night taking advantage of that fact! Bathroom very good. Smart, and a nice and versatile shower. All kept very clean and neat. The breakfast was very good and the man on duty worked tirelessly to keep everything just so. Long availability too, till 11am. Juice I think was freshly squeezed, or certainly tasted like it, and the range of foods on offer was very good. Hot options were kept not so hot in a silver warming device - scrambled eggs, bacon. You have to ask for cold milk though, even though they offer cereals which for me was the only negative point. There was no air conditioning though the sea air was a good substitute during our stay with the added piquancy of salt; while virtually the whole of Spain and southern Europe broiled in high 30s heat, the temperature on this coast never exceeded 23 degrees while we were there, although it got a bit higher after we left annoyingly! The car park had just about enough space for us all and not too much of a squeeze with a big car. There isn't much garden around the property. Two lounge chairs are in the garden and an outdoor shower, but the loungers seem a bit forlorn, and stuck in a shaded corner to feel ok about using them. Very good number of hangers in the wardrobe. There was a safe but I couldn't get it to work. The area doesn't feel very unsafe though so it's debatable whether this is something you should worry about. There is quite a large lounge area downstairs with sofas, tables, books and the like. There is a lift too. The hotel is a 15-20 minute pleasant walk from town along the promenade all the way if you want to, and lots of people do this walk to find restaurants etc. It really is quite a special little hotel in a lovely small town in one of the most picturesque locations, and within walking distance of one of the most famous cave complexes in the area - Tito Bustillo. For 3 stars it is very good. I would score it more like a 3.5 if that were possible.

Living close to the west coast of Ireland my wife and me seem to be drawn to Spain's north coast probably because both coasts share such ruggedness and beauty. In fact, in 2016 we visited the Asturias/Cantabria region twice and loved it so much that we visited again in May 2017. During our most recent visit we booked up for a six night stay at Hotel Ribadesella Playa. If hotels can be described as intimate, this hotel is certainly that. It is run by three siblings, young, vibrant, pleasant people each of whom is very 'hands-on'. The hotel, which is situated right next to the beach, is bright and modern to a detail. Our bedroom and en-suite were spotless. Each night, we were eased to sleep by the melodic sounds of the waves breaking on land - bliss! Breakfast too was superb with a wide choice to sustain us for the day's sightseeing ahead. In all our travels we have never found free Wifi as reliable as it is here. As I write, we are planning to take five of our friends to Asturias next October so that they too discover 'our' Spain. Where will we stay? Hotel Ribadesella Playa, of course! A special note to Management and staff there ....... You are doing an excellent job. To each and every one of you, congratulations and we done! Seán & Catherine, Mayo, Ireland.

Family owned and operated, with great attention to detail. The buffet breakfast is cruise ship quality (very good) and generous. Scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, Brie and another cheese, fresh squeezed orange juice, Nespresso coffee machine for espresso or? Croissants, buns, breads, toaster, and more. Walk to town for restaurants is 15 minutes. Grocery and wine store 5 minutes. The crescent shaped ocean front promenade is ? 2 miles long. The hotel is a heritage building, built in 1905, converted to the "boutique" hotel in 1988. The promenade has 15-20 elegant vintage hotels and houses. Must have an ocean-front room to enjoy the sunset, sound of waves if window is opened. The staff is young, very friendly and helpful, and speak English. The room is well appointed, great beds, bathroom has bidet, tub and shower, good towels, even has a facecloth. We love the place and recommend it to our closest friends. Tonight we go to the Michelin rated local restaurant ( Arbidel ).
