We made our trip to Fere-en-Tardenois at the last minute, as a spur-of-the-moment birthday present (to me from my husband...I had carte blanche to choose where I wanted to go for a long weekend). Having lived 5 years in Europe and never having stayed at a castle, this was my mission. With some research, I came across Chateau de Fere.... more

This was a fantastic place to stay. It certainly isn't cheap so don't book here if you want to buy three glasses of champagne poured into five glasses. The room was fabulous, the location among the ruins is unique. The dining room was the the height of elegance and the staff could not have done more to assist. All in... more

My friend and I visited Chateau de Fere for one night, and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is lovely, although the decor of our rooms was a little odd (trying to be modern and funky). That said, the rooms were very comfortable--great bed, modern bathroom and very spacious. The grounds are beautiful. Dinner was fantastic, and our waitress was... more

We just returned from 3 weeks in Europe. The first week my husband and I had some alone time in France. The Chateau de Fere was the highlight of our trip to France. This castle is about 50 minutes from Reims and in the middle of heaven. We were close enough to make the visits to the famous Champagne vineyards... more

A gorgeous Castle in one of France's most beautiful and interesting regions. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, the service is top quality and in the gourmet restaurant we tasted probably the best dinner of our lives. Very romantic. Not cheap but worth it. more

i travel through france a lot and this was one of the worse meals i have ever had. Gault millau rated it 15/20 I would rate it 5/20. The St Pierre fish was so overcooked it was chewy and came on a bed of luke warm oriental veg. The main course was a 1/4 duck breast with candied peel (no... more

Stayed one night enroute to the ferry back to Britain. Wonderful fairytale French Chateau with huge rooms and very helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant and had the excellent 'Menu du Marche ' which we thought was good value at 104 euros for two. The buffet breakfast however was very expensive at 22 euros per person, but was an... more

The setting is truly beautiful, as is the building (although the decor suffers a little from the effects of the 80s). The grounds are stunning. In fine weather, eating on the terrace, looking at the ruins of the second castle must be wonderful. Our standard room was large and light with a big bathroom. Our meal in the evening was... more

we stayed one night at this hotel and loved it. First we were welcomed by a wonderful english speaking hostess who could not have been nicer. She upgraded our room to a superior room due to the fact that the hotel was not crowded (i believe) The room was HUGE with one of the most amazing bathrooms i have seen.... more
