Had a lovely stay for a couple of days in the Hostellerie du Chateau in Chaumont this autumn. Perfect location to visit all the Loire valley Chateaux... We chose this hotel on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews, and were encouraged on arrival to observe a middle-aged lady balancing on flower-troughs to clean each remote corner of windows and window-frames. Right at the entrance to Chaumont chateau, superb river views, very welcome swimming pool, comfortable rooms, good food, friendly staff - in other words, all you need! We spent two nights in this hotel. We had a very nice room with view over the river. Although the hotel has no actual parking, we could easily park our car on the street right in front of the hotel. This hotel is a complete treasure. After a long day of biking, we rolled into Chaumont-sur-Loire expecting a humdrum budget hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with this 3-star establishment.
