We spent a good few hours biking on the moors until eventually we were snowed off. A wonderful welcome back at the cosy warm pub, where we were treated to great food in a lovely setting. Excellent beer too. We stayed for two nights and were very impressed with the superb rooms, particularly the shower! More

Stayed at the nearby Somerset house farm and just travelled here for a meal. They were only just able to fit us in but so glad the could. Food was fantastic! Had a lovely meal infront of the log fire! Thanks! More

I stayed here last year with a bunch of mates on a cycling trip and I have just booked to go back - this time on on romantic weekend. Great rooms, great beers, great food and great service will always be a winning formula. More

Arrived at opening time on a grey November day and a pint of the local 10/40 Ale and a half of Hereford Cider was most welcome. The pub was busy with locals , always a good sign , and a few travellers. The food was really excellent and I can recommend the haddock and spring onion risotto or the chicken... More

It does not look all that much from the outside but inside is a different story. A classic country pub downstairs but upstairs the rooms have all been refurbished and are very luxurious - we had a slate-floored walk in shower, for example. Dinner at night was very good and the atmosphere in the pub was warm and cozy. More

The service was excellent, the room was tastefully furnished and no corners had been cut. A wet room and pulsing shower where just some of the favourable features. The location is fantastic; the foot of the North York Moors and national park with the hotel nestling in Osmotherely, an unspoilt tiny North Yorkshire Village. The staff at the hotel were... More

Great reception, friendly and attentive service and top quality food. Really lovely room, tastefully furnished and with a fabulous walk-in shower room, granite tiled walls and floor and a massive power-shower. Bliss for a couple of walkers in searing heat on the Cleveland Way. The rooms are stunning value because our hosts are determined to offer affordable quality to walkers.... More

Exterior appears modest but atmosphere inside so comfortable. Our rooms were the best of 17 venues when we did the Coast to Coast walk and the bar/restaurant buzzed with life. The food was equal to any Michelin ** and with an efficient bar and service the inclement weather was soon forgotton. We will return for that special week-end in the... More

The Golden Lion lies near the Cleveland Way and is an ideal stopping point for walkers , although for us it was a stop on the trip from Leicester to Edinburgh. Our room was spacious and well appointed and very quiet. The traditional British Grub of which we tried the veal casserole and a steak and kidney stew was very... More

My partner and I booked a room at the Golden Lion as we decided to try one of the many beautiful circular walks from Osmotherley and thought it would be nice to stay over and have a meal afterwards. We booked a table for 8pm. We arrived shortly after 3pm and decided to check in before we set out on... More
