This is a great find for reaaly good food and amazing home made chips. Also you can take dogs into the main bar as well. I highly reccomend the scampi which comes with a mango salad. the puddings look great as well but sadly we have been to full to try them. more

We didnt stay at this hotel, but were staying in a hall just up the road. We decided to go here for sunday dinner as no-one could be bothered cooking(11 of us)!!! This is a great place to stay especially if, like me, you are attempting to climb Scafell Pike. It's located about 6 miles from the start point of the climb, in Wasdale. We booked the Santon Bridge via its website, having eaten there a few years ago. The staff were all friendly & helpful - especially Tom, who was an absolute star. This review applies to The Bridge Inn in Penton, near Longtown north of Carlisle - I'm sure there are several Bridge Inns in Cumbria! we were given a very warm welcome on check in at the hotel and given a guided tour. All the staff were friendly and helpful at all times there are 3 choices of place to eat. all 3 dining rooms serve the same menu but at least you can vary your surroundings.
