If you are looking for an out of the way base from which to explore this stunningly beautiful area of Spain, and you're not wanting easy access to a number of restaurants or bars, this could be the ideal place for you. This attractive, well decorated and recently refurbished rural hotel is in a small village about 6km from the small but busy town of Cangas de Onis. The village of Corao has one bar and one general store. Nothing much happens here. The hotel is run by a mother and daughter team in a very friendly and hospitable way. The daughter speaks only a little English so unless you're a Spanish speaker bring a
phrase book. Also bring cash as they don't take cards. Double rooms are between 30 and 55 Euros per night, depending on time of year. They will cook you dinner if you ask in advance at 12 Euros per person, and this seems to include as much of the local wine you can drink (and even a generous Cognac with your coffee!).
