Good quality, very clean three star hotel of approx 20 rooms, 200m from centre of town of Westendorf and 300m from main chair lift. Refer website: www.westendorf.net/alpenhof/. Family run and typically Austrian - spartan, continental breakfast, limited front office etc. Main feature is the briliiant restaurantl. Booking essential in season, and offers traditional Austrian faire plus Italian. Staff v helpful though limited English which actually creates atmosphere. No self catering facilities in rooms which have shower no bath and all have double glazing on windows and oil panel heaters. Rooms would be considered 2 star in US though in Europe / Ski is 3 star. Limited other facilities ie child care, ski hire, taxi services etc from the hotel though all of these abundant in village. Apart from restaurant, best attribute proximity to all parts of town - admittedly Westenhorf is a smaller ski resort. Overall skiiing good with sufficient ski lifts to move everyone up the mountain.
