This hotel was a little better than promised and expected in every way. The owners were more than friendly and their advice made the stay much more enjoyable than it would have otherwise been. The room was cosy and comfortable and the meals were very good. I ended up staying a second night because I was enjoying my stay so... more

It's a nice place, but don't expect much of a view. There are huge tanks planed next to the hotel blocking the view of the water. The hot tub didn't do much for me either -- view is blocked by the same tanks and the amount of chlorine is almost overwhelming. However, it is a good choice for the north... more

The staff is very kind and friendly, kind of like staying over at a friend's house. Make sure and have the dinner there, it was very tasty and the best meal we had in our 11 days of travel in Iceland. Our meal was a cream of mushroom soup, salted cod with rice, and warmed chocolate cake dessert. The breakfast... more

The booking was made for me, as I travelled on an organised tour of just five people. There are few hotels in this area, but this is reckoned by my guide to be one of the best. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent with traditional icelandic dishes served in pleasant... more

Stayed two nights while touring West Iceland. Hotel isn't much to look at from the outside (but then again, few buildings in Iceland outside of Reykjavik are - they do have to withstand some pretty harsh winters) but very nice public areas and comfortable, spacious rooms. We had wonderful views over the sea (as well as the fish factory -... more

Our family of four stayed at the Framnes Hotel for two nights in June, 2009. After a few days in Reykjavik, we wanted to explore a more naturally beautiful part of Iceland. We booked in advance and were offered a 15% prepayment discount. The cost of rooms is a bit high, but, as I'll explain, is certainly worth every krona.... more

The hotel was a great little place that had an extremely good breakfast. The sauna was nice but you have to let it warm up as it is not kept on 24/7. Didnt try the hottub but it was running when we were there. Rooms were a bit plain but clean with nice bedding. Shower was hot and solid water... more

Were these people staying in the same hotel as we are? The people weren't unfriendly, the showers turned on, the lights worked... but this place is gross! It hasn't been redecorated since the 60s and probably been vacuumed about once a decade. There is no where to put your clothes, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the TV is perched on... more

After a motley collection of accommodation in Iceland, this was fantastic at the end of the holiday. The room was large, clean , modern stylish and well equipped (TV , nice en-suite bathroom) and the family loved it. It was like being back at home but on holiday. That sense of relaxation and quality. The staff are very pleasant and... more

This is a fabulous place. If you want a quite getaway, Grundarfjorour is for you - and this hotel is fantastic. I was on my own, and stayed there in a newly created single room for four nights in June 2008. I spent my days walking around experiencing the wonderful sights of this penninsula, which is the setting for many... more
