Gaia House is a lodge-type accommodation consisting of a handful of twin and family rooms plus a dorm and camping facilities.

The rooms are extremely basic. The twin rooms consist of (you guessed it) two not exactly large beds plus a chair squeezed into approx. 8 ft x 6 ft 6 in. Mosquito nets are present and were o.k. in our room. We paid MWK 3,000 (approx. $ 22) per night. Breakfast is extra. There is no air-con and it was quite hot at night.

Toilets (1 x ladies + 1 x gents) and showers are shared.

Food and drinks are available all day. Prices are not over the top, but you can certainly find cheaper in the village.

The location is as good as it gets as you are right on the beach. It is literally no more than 30 metres from snooze to swim.

All the staff were generally very friendly. They will greatly appreciate even a small tip as they clearly are not exactly paid generously. A MWK 100 (US$ 0.70) tip got me a genuinely grateful... more
