Friendly pub/hotel with superb restaurante. Open fire and great bar comfort if you get the fireside seats. Service very good indeed. Bedroom fine but shower room a bit on the small side, mattress was superb. Slightly early road noise on the village high street. A very good stay much enjoyed. more

We found the whole experience in the hotel; rooms, food and staff to be first class all the way. The proprietors gave us a very warm welcome and we would recommend this hotel to any of our friends and family in Canada. Without question, we would definitely stay there again. P.S. We can sure recommend the omelets for breakfast in... more

I spent an enchanting week at the Jasmine Cottage in Swinton, Scotland. Small but very cozy, it is the quintessential cottage - the bright blue dutch door in the kitchen opens to a patio and flower garden. Follow the path past the greenhouse and look out over the barley fields to the mountains beyond. Simply charming. Although self catering, a... more

Have stayed and eaten at The Wheatsheaf many times. Food is wonderful, rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean. We have always recieved a warm welcome from the staff and nothing is a problem. Have also stayed in Myrtle cottage and found it to be a charming country cottage, not far from the Wheatsheaf. Gives you your own space but... more

We have stayed and eaten at the Wheatsheaf many times and can't fault one aspect of it. The rooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The food is fantastic using lots of local produce in an inventive way. The breakfasts are also superb with lots of choice. All the staff are extremely attentive and the owners are very friendly and... more

Having stayed here before, we booked all the rooms for our friends to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary with us. Everyone was pleased. The rooms are spotlessly clean, very well equipped and comfortable. High quality furnishings throughout. The chef certainly knows his stuff - while being creative, and using local ingredients where possible, he has not lost sight of the... more

Superb hotel and a fabulous location. We only booked 2 nights before we were due to arrive and were delighted upon arrival to discover we had been allocated Myrtle Cottage. Simply superb - real feather duvet and the comfiest bed ever!!!! We had breakfast and one evening meal at the hotel which were delicious and obviously a lot of thought... more

We had a most disappointing stay at this inn we drove 6 hours to get there We were greeted by a member of staff no greeting from owners even though they were sitting in lounge We were shown to the cottage with a dark dreary poorly furnished sitting room The furniture looks like cast offs from an old house There... more

Management response from

We object in the strongest terms to this review. The reviewer has used a local Irish term "Cockraches" - their spelling - to describe a beetle, which could therefore be taken that the cottage in question is unclean. Our standards of cleaning are highly rated by both Visitscotland and the AA and we set high standards for our cleaning staff....
