Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room needed a makeover. Tap head came off in my hand. Was broken and not even screwed in. Bathroom door had a gash in it. Mirror cracked.A bit dusty also. Walls paper thin. From 7am to 8am the man staying in the next room was having a telephone conversation on speakerphone with his girlfriend. I could hear every word as if he was sitting next to me . He wasn't raising his voice . Just speaking at a normal volume. He woke me up by putting a plug in an electrical socket which was probably located next to my head ,but obviously in his room. Couldn't recommend to stay hear if you need a good night sleep.

A lovely, cosy and very welcoming hotel with truly excellent food. The cheesecake is to die for! The staff were incredibly attentive, polite and professional. The bar area was clean and well presented with a country pub feel including lovely large woodburning fire. Highly recommend this hotel for good value breaks to explore Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast just 20 mins away.

Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Fabulous few days spent here, warm welcome from the receptionist, very informative and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room on first floor, very clean and comfortable, toiletries plus tea and coffee facilities supplied. We ate there both evenings, wow choices, delicious, generous servings, finished off with liquor coffees. The bar staff and very kind waiter were exceptional, they were a credit to the owner, we were made to feel so welcome. Would we go back again- definitely

This is a great little 3 star hotel in Chard Somerset. The rooms are really clean and a good size, some have access directly outside to the garden area, The showers are very powerful and there is always lots of hot water. We love the food at both breakfast and we also usually use the restaurant at least once during the stay. It serves all the usual pub type classics with good portions and prices. The hotel is dog friendly and there is a large field next to the hotel where you can walk your dog. You can eat in the bar area which allows dogs or in the restaurant and conservatory (which do not allow dogs). The bar is cozy with a log fire in the autumn/ winter and good selection of beers. The staff are all super friendly and we can't fault this great little hotel. It also has EV charging . . . .

Family run Hotel on a relatively small site just outside of Chard, Somerset. Our room was very good, although a little cold at night. Easy to get around and ample parking. Rather strange entrance from our room to the car park as we had to walk across wet grass. Well stocked bar with reasonable prices. Very good service but insufficient numbers when busy.

Went there for a celebration afternoon tea with Prosecco for my parent 60th wedding anniversary with my aunt too - dated decor and disappointing high tea. Sandwiches just plain cheese, ham on white no chutney or mustard, egg on brown which was ok and a smoked fish and cream cheese on brown followed by scone jam and cream which was ok but not enough cream for the two scones only enough for one and all the cake was bought in - sliced Swiss roll , cube of brownie and a slice of bought lemon cake all for the price of £27.50 per person ! I didn’t complain at the time as my aunt had bought it for parents as a present for their anniversary but felt it wasn’t worth the money at all

Visiting the area on holiday with family we found the hotel for an evening dinner mid week. Everything home cooked here - even for vegetarians which one of our party is. The service is excellent with such a friendly attentive staff team in the restaurant and bar. The food is delicious- with no exception for our party of six. Range of tastes and cuisines catered for. So good we returned for Sunday lunch and again we’re not disappointed. Had the tastiest nut roast ever here. Plenty for the meat eaters too. Thank you Lordleaze! Highly recommend.
