Visited here Bank Holiday Afternoon after receiving very poor customer service elsewhere. Ordered Sandwiches and drinks at the till, then went to sit outside in the sun. The food arrived promptly and the staff where so friendly, checking on our meal after we had started. Nice Bread on the sandwiches, fresh Jacket Potatoes and lovely fresh salad garnishes. Had a... We stayed for 2 nights only. One room was spacious the other small, too small really if you had a lot of luggage. Food is quick pub grub. Good range of beers. What stands out is the exceptional personal service. Breakfast very good.

This is a bar review. The best parts of the building are now part of the hotel, the 'public bar' being in what I thought was an uninspiring extension at the rear, totally without soul. There is a decent sitting out area side by the beck. The selection of beers though was good. Don't know if food was available. At... More

Superb hosts, very friendly and helpful staff. Spectacular views from the room, pub and breakfast area. Good breakfast, a variety of foods on offer including vegetarian options. Very good pub food and amazing ales. A great base for walking and a comfortable place to come back to at the end of ones travels.

After a long 10 mile walk a group of us descended upon The Fish Hotel. We immediately had problems as there was a no dog policy. Strange given the locality and amount of walkers with dogs. The dogs were despatched to the cars and we settled down for a meal. Various options were chosen, from burger and chips,Thai king prawn... More

Just had another visit to this marvellous watering hole set in beautiful Buttermere and discovered that Mark the magic maître de bar has had a new beer brewed specially for the Fish Inn. Being a member of CAMRA I consider myself a bit of an afficianado of local beers and I have to say that this one is a winner.... More

The Fish is a pub that I have visited many a time after coming off the tops to savour the well earnt beer. However last week was the first time that I experienced staying there. 3 nights of Bed & Breakfast. The room was well appointed, clean and well managed. The staff were very polite and friendly. I have stayed... More

We went in for a drink and a possible meal after a great walk in the hills. First they dont allow dogs, which we can understand where they are serving food, but why dont they have a 'walkers' bar where you can accept dogs and muddy boots? The greeting from the barman was unfriendly, and the bar was akin to... More

We came across this place during our walk. It is the perfect location. The food is great and the the place is clean and well maintained. No dogs allowed though, if you have one the pub next door allows them.
