We wanted to go to ski at Val Cenis in the French Alps because we were advised by friends that the small resort has great skiing and is not 'over-developed'. The resort is indeed very French, charming and the skiing is very good with many challenging runs and enough less demanding runs to keep the less advanced skier happy. We stayed at the 'Les Balcons (Haut)' apartments. The Haut bit is because there are two Les Balcons, one down in the main part of the village and the other, ours, at the top of the village. The accommodation is basic. We paid extra for a seven person apartment even though there were only two of us! As it turned out you could Never have fitted seven in and we were no more than comfortable! There was a hob and microwave in the kitchenette but no oven, kettle or toaster.
