We had no idea where to go in the beginning of our trip in Pakse. Our book suggest us the Sala Champa guesthouse, but we thought the price was too high for what it were! The Pakse hotel was just beside so we decide to go there. And it was just perfect! We had a deal on the price because... More

Rates similar to 4 & 5 star hotels' in other cities ($50) for very basic premises and less than average rooms. We declined many rooms on the 3rd, 4th & 5th floors as they were rather horrid. We paid an extra for 605 with a double view but the A/C was hardly working & we were baking; the room was... More

Good hotel with nice spacious rooms. Breakfast was OK and we really enjoyed the roof terrace for drinks and food. The hotel is in a good location, fairly central. We stayed here 2 nights on the way to a trip and on the way back. Our first room faced the front of the hotel and was really very hot and... More

This hotel, with French management, was comfortable and classy. The halls have nice decor touches with plants and art objects, the lobby and breakfast areas are spacious, and there's a nice shady front verandah where you can plug in your computer for wifi access. The breakfast had a plentiful selection of foods. The panorama lounge on the roof is very... More

This was my last night in Laos and I realy enjoyed my stay. The hotel has heaps of character, good service, clean rooms and helpful staff. Its central location means its close to shops, markets etc and there's a couple of good spas on the same road. The rooftop restaurant and bar is a top spot for a sunset drink,... More

A nice old place with a bit of character at the centre of town. The rooms are simple and the bathrooms are small. We stayed in a basic room the first time, and it was small without an outside window. We tried the deluxe room later but aside from a few extra square feet and a window looking onto an... More

Because our river cruise would start from Pakse harbour we had no other choice since the location of this hotel is just right in the town center next to the market and the harbour. The first room they gave us had the a/c blowing cold air right on our faces when in bed, so we immediately asked to change. Rooms... More

The hotel is in the centre of town very close to the food market, it is in need of a little love and tender care but still very acceptable, the rooms do need updating but they are very clean and the staff try very hard to please, there is a roof top restaurant that is a must in the evening... More

The Pakse hotel is ideally situated in the center of the town for restaurants. shops , sight s and Markets. The staff are excellent and will always try to help even if they have only a little English. It was worth upgrading to a panoramic room. on the 6th floor. I've stayed here often and I love this hotel. It sits at the hub of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia in Pakse, veritable south-east Asian crossroads on the Mekong river. Jerome Letemplier, the helpful, interesting and informative manager, runs it with French flair which somehow makes its (small) shortcomings - such as iffy wi-fi and occasionally unreliable hot water- seem... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Paksé Hôtel is ideally located in the historical heart of the of the city. French colonial houses, night and day markets, all shops and services (banks, airlines, exchange, …), as well as Mekong and Sedone banks are just nearby. Built in the early 60’s by the last Prince of Champassak, Chao Boun Oum, it has been totally renovated in 2000 by the Lao-French owning and managing couple. It reaches international standards whilst the traditional Lao-colonial influence is preserved. The panoramic restaurant on the top of the hotel has become one of the hubs of the city, serving traditional Lao, western and fusion foods. The restaurant is set in a wonderful open-air green environment, away from mosquitoes, air conditioners and traffic nuisances. The view on the city and the Mekong is really wonderful. ... more   less
