Overhyped disappointment. One of those hotels where so much is expected and so little received and therefore at >1000e a night just terrible value. Rooms were big and generally nice, but lacking in something, disappointing in feeling from walking in to leaving and yet difficult to put one's finger on it - beds comfortable, room clean, views nice, bathroom very... more

The hotel is quite ordinary. The staff at the front desk was fairly rude. We got off to a bad start as we had a rate dispute at check-in. Be prepared for the hotel to try to charge you higher than the rate you booked your room for. Get a print-out of the reservation ... or prepare to be milked!... more

Do not stay at the Castello del Nero. It is fraudulent in its claim to be just 20 minutes from Florence. It is atleast one hour by car from the city center or airport. The conduct of the staff and management ruin this potentially beautiful place. They are unhelpful, exhibited a most disdainful negative attitude, distrustful and above all, RUDE.We... more

A beautifully refurbished castello in a heavenly location. From all parts of the hotel there are stunning views of hills, sangiovese vineyards, olive trees, cypresses and distant villages. Room was large and comfortable, again, with hypnotic views; on arrival in the room there was a tray of cake slices and Prosecco. Breakfasts were excellent. The pool is a useful size... more

We just returned from an Easter weekend package. This is a perfect hotel if you are looking for a spa-like luxury environment in the countryside. The hotel, a renovated castle, is located between Florence and Sienna; both cities are well within an hour's drive. We did not want to be in a city and this hotel is right in the... more

We stayed at the Castello Del Nero during the last week of March, just before the tourist season began. The hotel was pretty empty (a little too empty), but our stay was fabulous. We were looking to stay at the most luxurious place we could find in Tuscany, and we were not disappointed by Castello Del Nero -- a world-class... more

This is a nice place but not fully up and running to 5* standard yet. It was only partially full and we had a room upgrade as have other reviewers. Nice room. The place has only been opened since May 2006 and it shows. Many guests were from USA on short stays at the hotel. The restaurant is not that... more

My husband and i just got back from the Castello del Nero for our honeymoon and I cannot stop raving about it to everyone I know. It was amazing... Everything from our room, the pool, the view, the staff and the spa was incredible. When we arrived at the hotel we were upgraded to a suite and when we arrived... more

When one arrives at this hotel there are so many things one takes in that it's virtually impossible to appreciate them all at once: the view, the gardens, the centuries old trees, the castle...We were then escorted to our room and were given an upgrade to an outstanding suite #118 with floor to ceiling frescoes, it was like sleeping in... more

My family stayed at the Castello del Nero at the end of June. I am spoiled for life. It was probably the lovliest hotel that I have ever stayed at. The staff was amazing. The rooms were beautiful. The restaurant was divine. I cannot say enough good things about the Castello del Nero. It is a true gem of a... more
