These guys Janet and John Free are the best B & B place we have ever stayed with! Very welcoming despite our very late arrival and a well prepared breakfast was ready for our early departure the very next morning. Kept our gear safe for the day until we returned later in the day. We will be staying there again... More

Janet and John are lovely people and very welcoming. We turned up knackered from a 24 hour flight and were delighted with our room. Very comfortable, with top bathroom. The view over the lake in the morning is quite something. Janets chestnut soup is also recommended!

My husband and I recently were in New Zealand for a Motor Race Meeting at Hampton Downs. We were lucky enough to stay at the Chestnut Farm Stay for 2 weekends. What a fabulous place to stay. Janet and John treated us like family. The room was lovely and clean and so comfortable. They accommodated a friend of ours who... More

We stayed here overnight on our way to Rotorua. Our room was comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. John was unable to provide us with an evening meal, but we had been warned of this in advance and Janet gave us suggestions for somewhere to go en route from Auckland. However we arrived too early to... More

Wonderful room, quiet, very clean, extremely nice hosts! A greenstone factory store is nearby where you can buy maori pieces of art and jewellery at greatly reduced prices when compared to tourist locations. Janet and John proposed to us an alternative way back to Auckland, which turned out to be a wonderful "finalissima" of our trip in NZ.

Late night arrival from Auckland airport was no problem at all for John who had been spot on with his 45 minute estimate for the drive down. It was the perfect place to start our long journey down to the South Island the following day. Very comfy bed in the King Room and a very hearty breakfast (lunch not necessary!)... More

With three fellow mature age rugby tragics I booked into Chestnut Ridge Farmstay for two nights in September, mainly because of the outrageous price gouging going on at hotels in the Auckland/Hamilton area. As it turned out the hoteliers had done us a great favour. Chestnut Ridge was an absolute delight. Indeed it was the highlight of our trip (particularly... More

A great stop-off on way to Auckland airport, near to main road to Auckland, in beautiful country setting. Warm welcome, excellent food including dinner, and a good place for the kids to let off steam. Highly recommended for tourists traveling New Zealand, not least because Janet and John provide a number of interesting insights into the country, which you would... More

Janet and John are top hosts. They were so thoughtful during our stay with a 3 year old and 1 year old., offering toys, books and guided tours around the farm. A lovely relaxed stay, the breakfast was also one of the best we had in NZ. Overall great value, stay with them if you can!!
