Not sure if this is my 6th or 7th longer stay at the Grand Karavia but I’m still coming back. The staff her is excellent and the food still taste great. There are also things that don’t improve. There is no minibar or possibilities to cool down drinks in the ordinary rooms. (Think the finer rooms has that possibility.) The... More

A friend and myself booked into the Karavia Hotel for 4 nights during the 2012 Lubumbashi Golf Open. The rooms were advertised at $100 PPPN. A special for Golfers On our departure we were informed that we had been upgraded to a 'Lake' facing room and that the room rate had now increased. $120 There was no Manager available to... More

We stayed here for the week with the family. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff are excellent. The breakfast is great with a ton of options reflecting American, European and Asian cuisine. On the down side, lunch and dinner was above and beyond expensive for the quality and portions sizes. We stayed in a suit and they... More

Rooms are funtional, but nothing special. Decor is very average. Staff helpfull and very friendly, but especially in the restaurant they need a LOT of training. Food is good, with a variety of Continental and local dishes. In Lubumbashi, which uses the eccuse of 'you are in a 3rd World African City/Country when it suits the purpose, the hotel is... More

The Grand Karavia is a little slice of peace and luxury in the bustling chaos of Lubumbashi. The quality of the rooms is excellent with really comfortable beds – I had a great night’s sleep and a great view over the pool and lake. The grounds are pleasant and good to stroll around, however there is a bit of rubbish... More

The hotel had massive problems with electricity supply so were reduced to running the hotel on backup gensets! This meant that the aircon was unavailable and made the rooms quite uncomfortable. I have stayed at other hotels and guest houses in Lubumbashi and other similar cities and this is far better and allot more comfortable. The hotel prices are excessive,... More

40 deg heat outside, and no aircon in the rooms. Need I say more? The hotel ran on generators as a result of a general power failure, but surely when one is hosting an international mining conference, one makes allowance for these eventualities and installs enough standby generator power. The hotel staff are willing but terribly slow. The cost of... More

By far the best hotel I have stayed in in the DRC. Modern and functional with all amenities and staff that try to please. ATM at the reception dish out local currency, USD, UK stirling and the Euro. Handy to have as their credit card machines are usually out of order because of poor broad band in the area. Their... More

2 trips to DRC. On the 1st one I stayed at a local hotel, quite a let down. In the second trip, we stayed at the Grand Karavia and its a good business hotel to stay at. Although the hotel management tries to act stiff upper lip, the local staff is just fantastic. Crisp new rooms, great food and ambience.... More

Someone has been generous giving these hotel 5 stars. Don't misunderstand I really liked the place. Everything was nice and clean. The service was very good with some exceptions. The food in general was also very good. I will recommend the evening buffet with a lot of international and local dishes. They change a lot of the dishes every night... More
