We found this hostel a great place as an overnight stay when travelling from the South of England to The Highlands with teenagers. Remember it is a hostel, not a five star hotel but it is well run and the manager was friendly and very helpful. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The shared kitchen and eating area has all that you need to self-cater and breakfast could be bought if ordered the night before. There are places to eat in the nearby town but you may need to drive to get to them, unless you like an uphill walk. The hotel in the New Lanark village has food if you want to eat closer but we found the menu limited. There are things to do during opening hours of the New Lanark village and lovely walks around the area when it is shut. more
