Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had seen this restaurant packed the night before so booked a table for the next day after reading what seemed to be a very promising menu. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. The special angus steak was sold out by 19.30, the pesto was NOT pesto. If you’re expecting pesto, ie the real Italian version then forget it. This is a tomato and basil sauce with a few pine nuts thrown in. Pizza was not brilliant, even my teenage son had trouble finishing it and he will eat anything as most boys do. The porc with cepes was ok but did not really taste of much and was dry. The beef check was soft and nice but the rest of the dish was bland and swimming in water. The starter of foie gras is overpriced and seemed perfumed with cinnamon which did spoil the dish if you don’t like cinnamon. I did ask for a small dish of pasta with pesto on the side for my daughter, age 10, and was told fairly rudely by the waitress that this may not be possible. After insisting and asking how complicated could it be and how pesto can vary, she promptly put me back in my place and said she was not scared of us rating her pesto. Pesto rating = 0

I found myself spending an unexpected night at the hotel when I lost my house keys last week. The room I got was more than adequate and was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. I will now recommend it to visitors who want to stay in the village. The restaurant there is very good.

If you are in Aups on Saturday morning you must go to the lovely market right outside the hotel. So convenient to get some delicious cheeses, sausage, olives, fresh fruits and vegetables to try from the market. We also walked around the charming medieval town which is not crowded and the people are so friendly. For shopping, the summer clothes selection at Toucan Creations next to the Fromentine et Sarrazin creperie are lovely, the owner Valerie speaks fluent English. We enjoyed our dinner at the L Alguiere round the corner of the shop. At the hotel, we were welcomed during check in by Cindy who was very helpful and friendly. All the staff there are nice. The room is simple and clean. The bathroom is outdated. Shower is small. The water for shower is lukewarm. The internet connection didn’t connect for us almost all the time and definitely not from the room. The room faces the restaurant so you can hear the dining activities till the service is over. There is no air-conditioning so you open the window for ventilation. It is cheaper than other hotels so it is a good choice if you wish to be next to the market and walking distance to the restaurants. There is a large parking lot in front of the hotel but you cannot park there on Saturday when the market is operating. Please drop your luggage at the hotel first and then go to find parking beside the children’s playground further away. There is no lift so you need to carry your luggage up the stairs to your room.

Poor service, waited 40 min to pay the bill. The place is nice in a garden. The sallad was ok. The main course with lamb was overpriced and not specially tasty. My wife ordered a chèvre salad with no taste at all. Sorry but general a big disappointment. Go elsewhere.

Aups is the perfect town to stay if you want to explore the surrounding areas. Fabulous market on Saturday mornings. The hotel is very provencale and steeped in history, right in the centre of Aups. The rooms are clean and comfortable, although the beds were a little creaky. The restaurant is set in the beautiful courtyard with a great menu and the staff cannot do enough to make sure you have a wonderful dining experience.

Four of us enjoyed an excellent dinner at this lovely restaurant in the commune of Aups in the south of France. We enjoyed a steak tartar with chips and salad; a grilled sirloin beef steak with pepper sauce, chips and vegetables, a grilled breast of duck with honey and fig sauce, chips and vegetables and moules en frit off the specials board. All delicious. Service was very good and prices were acceptable. All in all, very good indeed.

I was on a cycling trip and opted out of camping that night and found the quaint Auberge. What a find. Clean and comfortable rooms just what I needed after a huge climb to get there. The food also looked great but I did not eat there. It was fully booked for lunch and dinner

We have stayed here on a few occasions over several years. The location is right in the centre of Aups; a pretty town with mediaeval streets, busy market on Wed & Sat and great bars and restaurants. The hotel has beautiful rooms of average size but spotlessly clean and all with views over the courtyard restaurant. The food is good value and well cooked. The staff are attentive, efficient but with a delightful relaxed atmosphere. Parking is pot-luck in town but no problem. My only warning is the church bells which chime the hour all night and the Mass bell at 0800 most days (50m from hotel!!).

This was the first auberge of our trip and was everything we were hoping it would be. A lovely building in the town with turquoise shuttered windows, geranium filled window boxes and the rooms set round a courtyard, shady with trees. Our comfortable room was pretty with lemon painted furniture decorated with roses. We had dinner in the courtyard restaurant and while the menu was extensive we chose just pizza and a main of pork fillet which were excellent. Breakfast was continental but plentiful with a good choice and the staff friendly and helpful. Parking was free and close to the hotel, and it was interesting to walk round the town.
