Tend to agree with most of the reviews. A lot to recommend it - position, size and cleanliness of bedrooms, space around the pool, availability of sunbeds, affordable prices (didn't try the snack bar), attentive service, peaceful. Just returned from Altura having spent a week there with my teenage son. We were there to play some golf and wanted something unpretentious but in a good location with enough restaurants to keep us going for a week! We were not disappointed. Although there are things to improve (food is a little bit dull; extra services too expensive; internet acess ridiculous (please change the whole system), the lift is too slow), I enjoyed my stay very much. Picked this quiet location despite having 2 teenage girls to take along. We all enjoyed the holiday, the food was lovely, the rooms lovely, the beach amazing and deserted! The village is a true 'Portuguese experience', not too touristy(although that may be different in summer), no clubs!Brilliant!
