We have stayed at Greenwood Lodge three times, most recently in March 2009. I guess the fact that we keep returning speaks for itself, as there are several B&Bs and pubs with rooms along the same stretch of road.
The lodge is old and the furniture shows some wear and tear, but that's my only criticism. The landlady is friendly without being overbearing, beds are comfortable, breakfast is delicious, the gardens are well looked after. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. It feels like home from home.
The location is ideal if you're arriving by car as the hotel is close to a main road, but far enough back that you're not disturbed by the almost constant traffic. If you arrive by train, it's a short taxi ride or 30-min walk from the nearest train station (Highbridge & Burnham). There are several pubs and a small corner shop/post office within a short walking distance.
There is a bookcase filled with paperbacks in the living room...
