I spent a week at the lodge in April 2013 primarily for fishing, but also for wildlife and scenery. The fishing was excellent and our guide, Porfirio (spelling?) was outstanding. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the remote location was beautiful. There were plenty of birds, lizards, and monkeys seen daily on the lodge property as well as the... More

I just spent a week at the Rio Indio Lodge, primarily for fishing. The setting is fantastic, with some of the best virgin jungle I have seen. There is lots of wildlife and the fishing was great although not everyone did as well as we did. You definitely have to go at the right time and hope that the ocean... More

A friend and I recently spent 3 nights at the Rio Indio Lodge. I hadn't read the tripadvisor reviews prior to our trip as I live in Managua and know that lodging options are limited and therefore did my research through Nica sites and then found the Lodge's webpage. I'm delighted that we went, but I noticed early on from... More

Our trip to Nicaragua was my very first trip outside of the United States, and although the rest of Nicaragua was beautiful, there is nothing compared to the natural beauty of this area. The jungle is completely pristine and the lodge has made basically no impact on the natural environment whatsoever. There waswildlife everywhere, from Howler, Spider and White face... More

The setting of the lodge is really gorgeous. Monkeys routinely come down into the elevated walkways and there is a tapir in a large pen. Bird life is abundant. When we arrived most guests were sport fishermen. Because of a full moon, the fishing wasn't good. The lodge has wonderful old newspaper pages in frames on the walls so one... More

Judy and I spent three nights last month a the Rio Indio Lodge. Getting there via panga was quite and adventure. With the nearby airport opening this month the trip from Managua should be quite simple. One the other hand the trip down the Rio San Juan is a great advetnure in and of itself. The lodge is a beautiful... More

Rio Indio is unique in many respects. If you want an ordinary experience, look elsewhere. If you want a place with incredible natural beauty, service second to none, food off the charts, great fishing, local guides that are exceptional in every regard, and genuine hospitality from the owner to everyone there, then this is the place for you. My wife... More

The owners met us at the dock upon arrival and provided us with an incredible adventure on the river. We stayed here three nights and I would only recommend this to someone looking for an outside the box experience/adventure. The staff was wonderful and the food excellent. Our only complaint was we ate too much. The rooms are huge and... More

Spent only a few hours in the afternoon on New Years Day, since the rest of the guys were still recovering from the party the night before, I decided to give it a try. Two of us fished for about 2 hours at a river mouth, from about 3:15 to 5:15 PM. We boated and released 29 snook up to... More
