My boyfriend and two friends plus I stayed at El Vedado campsite for 6 nights in mid August. On arrival we found the proprietors very friendly. They volunteered useful information (both in English and French) including details about buses and trains into Barcelona. Trees provided extensive shade during those hot August days and offered places to tie twine for hanging out those wet beach towels. The washing facilities started off very clean but as the week progressed we feared the cleaner had gone on strike! The showers were occasionally hot, however, long queues were not a problem. The restaurant and bar were one in the same and the menu was fairly limited. There were about 4 other restaurants within walking distance. The swimming pool was small and it's surrounding area not too well maintained. Half way through the holiday we experienced the weekly August thunderstorm.
