I stayed at this property on the third week of a European Business trip and after a long week at the Paris Air Show. I had a second floor room with a balcony that overlooked the river. The room was large, very clean, and the balcony was a home run. The location is out of town on a farm and... more

As a special treat I decided to bring my wife to Bordeaux and stay in four star accomodation. The Image of Chateaux Grattequina was wonderful, both in the photographs and upon arrival. We are no strangers to large pretentious buildings, having worked myself in four and five star hotels in Ireland for the last twenty five years, my wife is supervisor... more

Our stay in this luxury boutique hotel near Bordeaux was a real pleasure ! Grattequina is a charming 19th century mansion overlooking the Garonne river. It has been fully renovated with all the comfort of a modern four-star hotel while retaining its original charm and atmosphere. It is well located to explore the Bordeaux wine region. The friendly owners are... more

My husband and I just returned from a 3 week vacation in France. We stayed four nights at the Chateau Grattequira at the end of May 08. It was a great experience. The hotel staff was very helpful in suggesting points to see and arranging wine tours. The Chateau is a bit out of the way. It is about 15... more

Three weeks before our trip to Bordeaux we booked and confirmed a night at the Chateau Grattequina using the hotel's website. After calling the hotel to reconfirm our reservation and book a restaurant for dinner during our afternoon drive down from Paris, we were quite surprised to arrive at the hotel and be informed that they did not have our... more

Yes it is out of the way and does not have a sociable bar and there is no restaurant BUT well refurbished genuine Chateau still family run and operating mainly as a local business day conference venue. There are many bars and restaurants nearby including Relais Margeaux a large golf hotel. A car is essential and the Chateau is an... more

Incredible location on Garonne River. Detailed driving directions from centre of Bordeaux to hotel essential, that is much better than provided by hotel web site. Quiet place with lots of history. Large rooms with all amenities you want. Extremly fiendly, knowlegable, bylingual and helpful staff. Perfect place for exploring the Bordeaux wine region. Lots of excellent restaurants in the neighborhood.... more

The hotel itself is stunning and the Junior Suite (we had No 3) was very spacious, spotless, very stylishly decorated with a large balcony overlooking the Garonne river. There is also, unfortunately, a huge cement factory on the opposite river bank. Not noisy but a bit depressing. A car is absolutely necessary as there are no restaurants there or near... more
