It could be a great place - fantastic, friendly host, good bed, all cooking facilities, clean. However the TV is old, and channels are limited. The place is quite noisy at night, with trucks moving along the road all the time, with occasional train passing by as well. Advise - stay if you don't mind the noise.
The location is at the border of the town. By car it takes around ten minutes to the center of Matamata with its restaurants and shops. The rooms are big and clean. This is your typical Kiwi Motel. Spartan but comfortable.
I had one room upstairs, a small 'lounge', in the basement and a second room next to it.
There was a very utilitarian kitchenette with all the elements you would need as well and a good size fridge.
