thank goodnes this is now a full fledged Parador, one can reserve now as with the others! Pardors are usually somewhat austere, often dark and formal...so we were delighted to stay at Bernardo Fresneda...it is beautifully furnished, much nicer than the sister parador in the same city...we were so glad we had chosen Fresneda...nice sitting areas, great breakfast room (modern... more

We fell on this place during our escape from France's Dordogne region. France just working for us and we drove down thru Pamplona and eventually found ourselves in Santo Domingo. This parador is in the town of santo domingo de la calzada - a town in the rioja - it´s set in a monastery. It´s a beautiful building with really lovely rooms.
