We spent the weekend at this lovely hotel and enjoyed it very much. The room we had was modern and very clean and the service was excellent. The hotel has a gym and sauna which was an added bonus. We would like to thank the lovely young Abbey who worked at the hotel. She was great fun and what a... more

I must admit the hotel looked good. From the outside. However when I got inside, this illusion was stripped away from me as I stood in the foyer and waited. A man with a red face was sitting behind the recption desk and spent twenty minutes on the telephone. He wouldn't even acknowledge my presence. This was one of the... more

I was blown away with this hotel. the last time i was in Lochmaddy i had to stay at the other hotel near the boat dock and i kid you not i would rather have slept outside in the rain!!!!! the Tigh Dearg is the complete opposite of this. I stayed for one night on a work trip and words... more

Excited byt the"boutique hotel" reputation of this place we were extremely disapointed by our stay. Worst of all was the staff : was not friendly and not caring at all... Didn't even say a word after we paid and left (no "googbye" or whatever !). The rooms were ok though quite small. But this place is so noisy ! You... more

We discovered that this hotel has recently been taken into administration which explains why the management are cutting costs wherever they can: the "locally sourced" bedroom items that the room guide so proudly boasts about - Hebridean handmade soap, Boarder Biscuits, Arran Aromatics shampoo and local spring water - we all missing and replaced with cheaper alternatives. Many of the... more

We enjoyed our stay here overnight and the room was very comfortable to relax in for the afternoon since there wasn't much to see outside and anyway it was the Sabbath so most places were closed. Staff were helpful and friendly and we had dinner in the restaurant - the fish pie which was full of fish (squat lobster, prawns... more

I couldn't recomend this small, friendly hotel highly enough. The rooms were lovely, the food excellent and the staff and management extremely friendly and obliging. Don't miss out. more

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the food and the overall welcome. A friendly welcome from everyone with good food, some nice wine and a selection of malts. A 2 minute drive (if that) from the ferry was followed by a quick friendly check-in and then off for a relaxing walk around the local area. The small leisure club had... more

Stayed one night on Hebridean tour. Great location in centre of village near to ferry. Room very good although bathroom very small. Friendly, attentive staff. Lively bar and busy restaurant. Food perfectly acceptable. Live ceilidh music in lobby during evening. more

Conveniently situated for Lochmaddy and Berneray ferries and discovering the rest of the island. Management and staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative issue was the fact that service in the evening was quite slow if the dining room was very busy. Having said that, the food was well worth the wait and our stay was most enjoyable. more
