We stayed in Westfaelischer Hof for several weeks in June. It's in a small, pretty town amidst wonderful countryside, and Bad Berleburg isn't a great place for anyone who needs late-night city action-- or much of any city action-- because it's an hour or so to the nearest big cities (Cologne and Frankfurt). However, for a getaway in the country this hotel and town are a great find. The hotel is family-run, and has been in the same family for several generations; the atmosphere is warm while also being very professional. All of the staff (about half of whom speak English) are kind and helpful. We loved the food in the restaurant, and many locals went there to eat as well. The interior of the hotel has been remodelled fairly recently, and very tastefully; the rooms are not ornate, but they are comfortable, pleasant and in excellent condition, and they have everything you need (including wonderful duvets and pillows).
