One of the better priced options in Bagamoyo, a small town with charm but little infrastructure. The rate was about $50 a night for a double room with hot water, A/C and breakfast. Partway through our stay, problems with water pressure necessitated a move to another room, a much larger king-size that was more like a suite, with a nicer bathroom. The property also has a few bandas close to the beach.
The restaurant/bar is underneath a large banda. Food is marginally better than at other hotels, although after a couple days we became bored with the menu. The beach is nice and swimmable, but plan around Bagamoyo's seriously low tides.
The large pool was beautiful our first day (Saturday), however each day the water increased both in murkiness and number of waterbugs. By the 4th day, it was too disgusting to go in. I wondered if they shock it before weekend guests arrive (it's a popular weekend destination), but we left on Thursday so I'll never...
