Moyo Mmoja Guesthouse is one of the places in Africa I hold dearest to my heart. I stayed here the first time in 2009 for about two mounts as part of an school project. We were four girls who completely fell in love with the place. I went back as part of a longer travel around East-Africa in January 2012... More

I just wanted to ensure that people staying at this guesthouse are very clear that this place is extremely basic. Hot water is unlikely, the rooms are very dark, our mirror was broken etc. However, it is a really sweet place, everyone is really friendly, and it serves as a fantastically good value base for Bagamoyo.

We stayed here two times, both 2,5 months. We are a family with three children and our kids loved it too. Moyo Mmoja makes you feel like home and my children consider this place as their second home. The staff is friendly and you meet other interesting people on the lovely terrace. It is easy to go down to the... More

Stayed here for one rainy night on a two-day trip from Dar... this is apparently the only real tourist-oriented place in town (except for the expensive new Millennium Resort in the post office). It mostly caters for volunteers or other people who stay a bit longer than the usual tourist, so if merely travelling through you might feel a bit... More

I stayed at Moyo Mmoja for three months in 2011, doing fieldwork for my master thesis. At Moyo Mmoja I felt at home right away. I can without any doubt recommend this guesthouse. It’s located in a nice and peaceful area of Bagamoyo, yet close to everything you need. There is a lovely outdoor area, nice view from the roof,... More

Although not along the bach, the walk is only a short distance from this wonderful guest house.... So close to all amenities, in particular, Baga Point, where many of the locals gather and enjoy each other's company. Never have I felt so good about the people as I did in Bagamoyo. This Guesthouse was my favourite place to stay, as... More

Moyo Mmoja in undoubtedly the best budget accommodation in Bagamoyo. The rooms are great - big, clean, comfortable, well kept, with mosquito nets and fans. You can even get your own private "bungalow house" if you want. Staying at Moyo Mmoja is actually better than staying at one of the impersonal hotels, irrespective of cost, because the staff are so... More

If you are anywhere near Bagamoyo, you should definitely stay here. The staff is helpful and friendly and the price can't be beat. I've actually rented a room for months at a time while doing volunteer work and Moyo Mmoja truly has become my home away from home. Their kitchen allows you to prepare your own food if you so...
