My husband and I visited thePolochar Inn with friends and our dog as part of a week's tour of the Outer Hebrides. We had a great time and the food at the r was great and the service too. We were a bit disappointed with South Uist overall but loved Eriskay. We did however fall in love with Harris and... More

We were meant to stay here 2 nights but a cancelled ferry reduced this to one. We called to explain and it was no problem for them. Despite being within their rights to charge us for both nights, on check-out they reduced the charge to just the night we stayed. This was extremely good of them. The property is in... More

We ate in a dining room overlooking the bay, in which neighbours had seen otters on theprevious day. The food was excellent, and the double room very comfortable and well-appointed, refurbished recently. Very clean and friendly staff. I would return and happily recommend. More

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. All the staff were friendly, and the bar was particularly nice. The bedroom was good, though not all that big. If you're looking for somewhere in the area, this is the place. Only one little niggle - the tables in the restaurant are too close together! More

The Polochar Inn is a classic Inn with a fabulous dinner menu, well-deserving of the praise that attracted me to spending an happy evening in it's warm hospitality during my recent trip to Scotland. The room are small, but very clean and well-appointed with all the Mod Cons, including WiFi. The location is spectacular and well-situated for a journey along... More

It was a quiet Monday night when we stayed in early Oct 11. The room we were given (#33) was obviously recently upgraded and redecorated. While quite small it was perfectly adequate and the bathroom was particularly smart. The dinner option was in the bar (actually more atmospheric than the actual dining room) and although local dishes were under represented,... More

The Polochar Inn was recommended by our nearby B&B and we were not disappointed with our meal. Cannot comment on the hotel for accomodation but the food was excellent and beautifully presented. We both choose scallops which were delicious, steak & fish which were cooked to perfection. A little more expensive than other meals we had on holiday but no... More

We would have stayed at Polochar Inn, if it had fitted in with our travel plans, but arranged an evening meal, which did not disappoint, as the scallops were exquisite, and there was a great choice of puddings. The staff were very attentive, the atmosphere in the bar most congenial without being oppressive and claustrophobic as one sometimes finds in a... We hoped this would be a cosy pub atmosphere. However it was more a small hotel with restaurant areas, even the bar. No roaring fires and traditional bar. Having said that, it was claen and the food was good. More

A few minutes before we entered the hotel a pair of otters crossed our path as they ran from the sea to the machair. A good start. Entering the hotel we had a warm reception and were taken to a small, but well appointed room; moving around was a bit of a squeeze but nevertheless the sea-view helps. The bathroom... More
