Never judge a book etc. read various reviews about the hotel. Got upgraded to a far better room on arrival, staff were excellent, as was the food. Perfect setting even if the weather let us down. Cannot have everything. more

Just returned from Portsonachan Hotel having really enjoyed a 3 day break. Room was small but very comfortable, food was very good and staff very pleasant. We had all our meals in the conservatory whilst we enjoyed the beautiful view across the loch. No complaints whatsover. more

We came up not knowing really what to expect. The staff were very polite and helpful and always wore smiles. The room was clean and tidy - not overly spacious but who goes to a hotel in such a gorgeous location and spends all day shut in a room?! For the price we paid we couldn't expect anymore. The meals... more

I have never written a comment on any hotel but this one is so bad and run down that I decided to make an exception. We are not talking about the view which is breathtaking but it did not compensate for cold breakfast, every day, a room without heating and no water whatsoever to have a shower or bath .... more

We booked this as a base for our bike trip to Scotland, and I have to say we were very pleased with the whole thing. It is off the beaten track, but the food was excellent and the drink was reasonably priced for a hotel, so no problem staying in for the evening. The conservatory overlooks the lake and is... more

After a 500 mile trip by motorbike and car, we found the hotel in an ideal location. Once we had time to get organised , we found the hotel had a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good and reasonably priced. The rooms were clean, warm ,if a little on the snug side. Even... more

We had a very relaxing stay in hotel that is in a truly fantastic location. We were blessed with glorious sunshine throughout our 3 day stay so spent most of our time outside taking in the views of the Loch. The first impression was that a little TLC to some parts of the hotel would have made all the difference.... more
