Maybe we visited on a bad day, but we never got past the front door and reception. We had heard of this place through a TV show that stated it provided a bar and lunch menu to non residents. Visiting Congleton at about mid-day on a Saturday - surely an ideal and profitable time for a hotel to provide food... More

We stayed for just one night -thank goodness. I've never been so cold in my life!!! The heating was totally inadequate and the duvet pathetically thin. The bathroom was dark, grubby and stank of bleach. On the plus side - adequate hot breakfast.

This is a fairly large hotel in the heart of Congleton. Congleton appears to be a small dormitory town serving Manchester so I would imagine there is little tourist traffic into the town. This is what I feel is the heart of he problem for the management : the hotel is in need of modernisation but doesn't have sufficient guests... More

Stayed here during a trip to a family wedding. Got to say, although its January and we are having a really cold winter, the coldness of the rooms was totally and utterly unacceptable. When one guest complained they were told the heating was on a timer, and were offered a substandard electric converter heater, which proved to be of no... More

Lovely hotel more than adequate rooms which have all been very spacious. The food is decent pub food within a very reasonable budget and the staff will pretty much provide you with anything you need. Great location too.

My wife & I stayed here last weekend after attending a family wedding nearby. The Lion & Swan was very accomodating, staff happy and helpful. Very clean hotel considering it's age and the breakfast on Sunday morning was superb and completely cooked to order. We didn't eat for the rest of the day. Slight criticisms: The room was quite cold... More

I've stayed in this hotel a few times as I have relatives nearby. This time it seems to have gone down hill a little with some things looking a little tired. Big room but small bed which seems a bit of a waste, big bathroom but very standard fittings. Breakfast was good but basic. Not quite sure what will happen... More

Stayed here for one night in Room 20. The room, the staff, the whole hotel is fantastic. Had no eerie experiences in room 20, just loved the room! The hotel has been recently refurbished and it really is lovely. The corridors are quite narrow, so if you have an difficulty in movement, this may be worth bearing in mind. I... More

I stayed here for a long weekend with my other half as it was close to the Shooting club. Happy friendly staff, room was excellent in the new part of the Hotel (next time I will ask for the old part), food was excellent and good value, lively bar, plenty of parking. Located right in the centre of town, easy... More
