A lovely hotel in a great location/setting. We arrived and were shown to our room. Of the 3 'contemporary' superior rooms available, we stayed in Kirkham (Room 12). The room was spotless and the bed absolutely amazing - so comfortable and very high standard of bedding. The large bathroom was also lovely with a free-standing roll top bath and separate... more

We stopped off at Burythorpe House (mother, partner and me) for one night on our way to Whitby for a short break. And what a treat it was. Sundays are often quiet in hotels and we had Burythorpe House to ourselves (apart from the staff) - luxurious rooms, beautiful surroundings and the staff made us feel so welcome. I thought... more

Beautiful location in the midst of stunning countryside. A small hotel in idyllic setting. Room was beautiful, with great view and lovely bathroom. We stayed one night after visiting coast near Filey. Meal in the restaurant was excellent, as was the wine and pre dinner canapes in the lounge. Breakfast was very good, with local produce and attentive service. Only... more

We stayed here for a weekend break (Saturday and Sunday night). Overall I was happy with the hotel, the luxury room we booked was fantastic with huge sleigh bed and beautiful bathroom. I found the staff a curious mix of either overly efficient and cold or rather bumbling but friendly. We were told that we could only have dinner at... more

We stayed at Burythorpe House on a Monday night in March and virtually had the place to ourselves - which was just like having a grand old house all of your own! The public areas of the hotel are very nicely done - lovely lounge and dining room, well decorated and cosy. Our bedroom was a very good size and... more

Great hotel, great staff and even better food. Probably the best meal I have ever eaten certainly the best meal in a hotel, and I have had a good few. The service is excellent and chef even rustled something up off the menu for our two fussy children! more

A small luxury hotel with a family atmosphere and a genuine attitude that good friendly service is important. I think we had the best room in the house for our anniversary weekend, with a lovely view across the fields to the church and the largest bed I have ever seen in a sleigh-style with a mattress 3 feet deep. Food... more

This hotel is amazing. Very Homely, but with luxury. Jake, the manger has very, very good staff, and they are all really friendly and not at all stuffy. The hotel has been recently done up, but its the people and setting that make it special. Service was floorless, food good, Rooms beautiful. Worth whatever you pay, you must visit. more

Absolutely fabulous. Had a 2 night stay as a birthday treat for myself and my husband. The building itself is absolutely beautiful. The decor was elegant and tasteful. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The food was absolutely to die for. The pub in the village which the hotel has connections with was lovely - great atmosphere, food... more

After booking this on new years eve as a last minute, lets do something i was a little dubious that wed made the right decision-as we drove into the grounds, through the little village we knew the location was right- as soon as we opened the door, it was just the most equisite experience ever never darken a chain of... more
