My first visit to Split Apple was an extremely restful, relaxing and joyous experience. My reason for coming was that I needed time for myself and some peace and rest. What wonderful charming hosts Lee and Pen proved to be . I was looked after so well in their beautiful Retreat overlooking the ocean. Superb healthy food prepared with such... More

There are some secret places left in the world but Split Apple Rock Retreat will not remain so for much longer. Ever since our experience we have talked about little else. The views are breathtaking, the tranquility anaesthetising and the silence quite deafening. Several things make this retreat so unique - only 3 suites, which means not only privacy but... More

Much has been written and all of it's true. This is the 18th 5* review out 18 reviews! A magnificent location, luxurious accommodation, wonderful hosts, and fabulous food. One of the best small luxury resort/retreats in New Zealand. We'll be back. Thank you Lee and Pen, and staff.

The review and pictures we saw prior to our visit were enough to entice us to visit but did not prepare us for what was an unbelievable experience at what has to be a premiere world holiday destination. The peace, tranquility, spectacular views and privacy have placed this spot as number one on my list of best holiday destinations around... More

Our experience at the Split Apple Retreat was one of pristine relaxation in complete luxury. It is exquisitely decorated, with every detail of the very highest quality, and views which simply took our breath away. OK, so we have stayed in some nice places in our lives, and this is up there. Architecturally divine, with attention to detail that we noticed increasingly as the week went on, all in a gorgeous setting. Freshest seafood (some we gathered with Pen on the beach), abundant fruits, most interesting meals which covered every single fave I had mentioned... More

Split Apple Retreat is well named. It offers a wonderful respite from the demands of a busy life. The accommodation is 5-star in a beautiful house with a Japanese flavour and wonderful views. it's small and intimate with just three guest bedrooms but an amazing variety of ways to spend the days - reading a book in the comfortable loungeroom... Sadly I only stayed 2 days at Split Apple would have happily to move in. Lee and Pen were totally welcoming making my time fly by far too quickly. A world class health spa retreat, wonderful food, breath taking NZ location not to be overlooked for hiking, biking water sport etc. Due to my interest in nutrition Lee was a... More

Though on very short notice our hosts, Dr. Lee Nelson and his lovely wife Pen made us feel like family at this stunningly beautiful spa/retreat. Japanese themed architecture and lovely gardens overlooking the sea and the Abel Tasman National Reserve set the tone for a truly memorable and intimate stay. Their attention to detail throughout from the rooms to the... More
