Castle Lauenstein is secluded to say the least. It's not difficult to find but definitely is in the woods. There's not a whole lot of sightseeing in the area so be prepared to just relax. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was VERY good. There are a few things to see around the area. There are the caves (grottos) in Saalfeld and the Lauenstein Confectioner which is very close to the castle. The chocolates are very good and there is even a self-serve fountain of warm flowing chocolate to taste...think Willie Wonka and you've got the correct idea. more
