me and my husband stayed here for my birthday.We arrived about 6.45 pm and was greeted at the door my the manager,he was very friendly and showed us up to our room.The room was lovely,very traditional with four poster bed and all the old features.The manager explained the building did'nt have central heating but there were 2 small heaters we could leave on so the room was warm when we returned from dinner
(the room was never cold,we turned them off over night and the room was fine in the morning,there are fires downstairs which warm the whole building).
We went downstairs for a drink and went into dinner about 8.30.The menu was fab and everything was very seasonal and obviously home cooked.The waitress was very friendly and service was good throughout as was the food.After dinner we had coffees in the snug bar.Breakfast was a slight letdown as there was no one about,we went and found a table and a chef came out after a while and took our order.Again food was lovely.

Myself and partner stayed at the Bucks as an anniversary treat. It had been recommended by a mate and we weren't disappointed. The room was large, clean and had a superb view of the Blickling grounds. And yes, all the rooms have a 4 poster bed. If you want a country house hotel feel without the pretentions then this is the place to stay. The food was excellent too, and like the accomodation lacked pretention, yet gave glimpses of what the chef/patron is clearly capable of. The food appears to be sourced locally and there is a deli selling local fare behind the pub. We're booking for next year!
I forgot to mention the attentive but not overbearing staff, thankyou. A walk around the grounds of the hall after breakfast was a charming way to end the perfect stay.
1 night dinner, bed and breakfast came to £136, we have paid over twice that for places not half as good. more
