Coming fron San Diego it is hard to imagine a more remote, clean, comfy and cost effective lodging in such a beautiful and remote location anywhere. To find a place this nice 56.7 miles down a dirt road in Alaska was really an absolute treat. My wife and came to Alaska for our honeymoon and as nice as Anchorage is... more

No question about it, these are the best accommodations east of the Copper River, located in the Wrangell Mountains. Actually, it is a challenge to find out of the way accommodations anywhere on earth comparable to these unless you rub elbows with Donald Trump. Just a couple of miles west of McCarthy on the main Chitina/McCarthy road. Large state of... more

my husband and i were delighted to have stayed at currant ridge cabins for three nights. we would play hard all day, so coming back to the cabin every night was so comforting. rising with the sun every morning and having our coffee/breakfast before hitting the trails for another day was a great way to start each day. the accommodations... more

These cabins were obviously built with lots of love and attention to detail. My husband, 16 year old daughter and myself felt welcomed right away! We met the family and we were invited to dig up some vegatables in their garden and enjoy for dinner. We also were invited by the family to join their bonfiire in the open meadow... more

Wife and I stayed here for two nights with our 22 year old son (who had been working in Alaska). We were amazed at the spaciousness of the cabin, especially compared to other cabins we had stayed at around the state. Kitchen has all you need. Relaxing on the deck with its great view was a treat. This place is... more

Ours was a last minute booking when we decided to visit the Kennicott Mining operation at McCarthy. These cabins are situated with excellent views and privacy. The interiors are spotless and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Excellent facilities if you want to do your own cooking. Due to remote location only dial up Wifi available so be patient.... more

I have stayed at the cabins twice and have had very comfortable stays both times. The cabins have all the amenities that you would want, especially in the middle of nowhere. There was plenty of hot water, good beds, and a kitchen that is very well equipped. The decks had great views and the little touches that the Shidners provided... more

My husband I stayed at Currant Ridge Cabins over the 4th of July weekend and had one of the best times ever! The cabins were amazing! They're roomy, clean and comfortable and filled with everything you need. We brought our own food and had everything we needed to prepare every meal. We ate every meal on the deck, drinking coffee... more

We live in Valdez and brought friends from Norway to visit Kennecott and McCarthy. Currant Ridge Cabins provided an excellent base of operations for our stay. Everyone concerned enjoyed the accommodations and we look forward to doing it again. We had the best barbecued fresh oysters that you could ever imagine prepared by Andy. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Kennecott Mine... more

These are the best cabins on the road to McCarthy. More than cabins, these are guest houses furnished with modern conveniences not available anywhere in McCarthy. So nice to pull in after the long drive and relax with a glass of wine on the deck while barbecuing dinner. After four wheeling up to the Kennecot mines, the full size bathtub... more
