A very nice place to stay. Here is the deal. This lodge & cabins are at the END of the road, right before the foot bridge into McCarthy. The thing is IF you don't want to pack all of your stuff across the foot bridge (which is the ONLY way to get into McCarthy as there is no public car bridge) then this is a great place to stay. Otherwise you have to pay to park your car and then pack everything across the bridge yourselves and then either take a shuttle ($5-10) about 1/2 mile into McCarthy where most of the rooming houses or hotels are located or hoof it yourself packing all your stuff. The shuttle only runs until 6pm I think so be sure to check on that if you are considering using it. Some of the places in McCarthy WILL pick you up at anytime at the foot bridge so be sure to clarify that. We liked that we had our car right with us at the Kennecott River Lodge. Be careful, there are many places with VERY similar names so don't book the wrong one!
